Va panel manufacturers have tried different techniques to improve the viewing angles of their panels over the years with the goal being a perfect lcd panel with wide viewing angles and deep blacks.

Compared to ips panels va panels have the advantage of higher possible refresh rates. While they have yet to achieve that goal a few tvs have hit the market that try and combine the best of va and ips panels.
